Which Seedance?

One family, five models. The Studio runs the two you reach for by hand; the API adds the fast and small ones for pipelines.

VersionWhere it runsReach for it when
Seedance 2.0Studio and API (seedance-2)The shot needs references: a character from an image, motion from a clip, a soundtrack from an audio file. 1080p with optional audio.
Seedance 2.0 FastAPI (seedance-2.0-fast)The same family with a quicker turnaround and a lower price, for iterating on a prompt or rendering a batch.
Seedance 2.0 MiniAPI (seedance-2-mini)The smallest 2.0. Previews, storyboards, and high-volume jobs where cost per clip matters more than polish.
Seedance (1 Lite / 1 Pro)Studio and APIThe image-to-video specialist: bring one still to life. Pro adds an end frame so you can control where the motion lands.

How to prompt Seedance 2.0

It rewards direction the way a camera operator would: one shot, one subject, one move, and a note on sound.

Write the shot, not the story

Seedance renders one continuous shot. Give it a subject, an action, a camera move and a light, and leave the plot for the edit. Short, concrete sentences beat adjectives.

TryA barista pours latte art in a sunlit cafe, slow tilt down from her face to the cup, steam catching the light

Lock a character with a reference image

Add a still of the character or product and Seedance keeps its look across the clip. Use the same reference for a second shot and you get the same character in a new scene, which is what most short-form work actually needs.

TryThe same emerald wind-up fox toy walks along a moonlit bookshelf, tail swaying with each mechanical step

Steer motion with a reference video

A short clip of the movement you want, a turntable spin or a walk cycle, tells the model how things should move better than any adjective. Describe what changes; the reference carries the rhythm.

TryReference: a slow product turntable. Prompt: a ceramic mug in the same spin, colorway cutting from sage to rust to cream

Direct the sound

With audio on, say what the scene sounds like: ambience, one or two effects, whether anyone speaks. Or hand it a reference audio clip and let the visuals follow the track. Silence is a choice too, if you plan to score it later.

TryNight market at closing time, shutters rolling down, distant scooter, a vendor calling out once, rain starting
